Srinagar: Terrorists tried to sneak into India from Pakistan near the Line of Control (LoC) late on Friday night. The attempt was foiled by the Indian Army and a junior officer was killed in the line of duty during an anti-infiltration operation. A video released by the Indian Army shows the movement of terrorists near the LoC.
The video, captured by a thermal camera installed for better surveillance of the highly sensitive border area, shows three terrorists trying to enter India through a dense forest in the Kairi-Bhattar area of Aknoor district.
The troops found a group of heavily armed men near a stream in the forest area ahead, which led to a fierce gun battle. Subeda Kuldeep Chand was injured in the exchange of fire and later died of his injuries. As reinforcements were deployed, the entire area was cordoned off.
It was the second such meeting since February aimed at easing tensions following nearly a dozen cross-border shootings and improvised explosive device attacks.
